Bridging Leadership Workshop for DepEd Region 2

MAKATI CITY – Pursuing AIM TeaM Energy Center’s mission in forming more bridging leaders in education, 30 officials of the Department of Education (DepEd) Region 2 underwent a 3-day workshop on Bridging Leadership at the Asian Institute of Management last August 24 to 26, 2015.

Among the participants were Education Program Supervisors at the Region 2 Office, and Schools Division Superintendents and Assistant School Division Superintendents from the provinces of Batanes, Cagayan, and Nueva Vizcaya, and the cities of Santiago, Ilagan, Tuguegarao, and Cauayan.

The 3-day workshop conducted by the AIM TeaM Energy Center for Bridging Leadership (AIMTEC) introduced the participants to concepts and skills necessary in leading oneself and leading others towards excellence in education. These included Systems thinking, Theory U, Stakeholder analysis and engagement, Dialogue, Total Quality Management, and Leading Change. The workshop also aided the DepEd officers in espousing for greater engagement of communities in local school governance.


Among the AIM Faculty who facilitated their leadership development within the 3-day workshop were Prof. Manuel De Vera, Executive Director of the AIMTEC; Prof. Jacinto C. Gavino, Jr., DPA, co-founder of the Center ; Prof Prof. Ma. Nieves R. Confesor, former Executive Director of the AIMTEC; Edilberto C. de Jesus, PhD, Professor Emeritus at the AIM and former DepEd Secretary; Prof. Antonio Ma. C. Perez; Prof. Rene T. Domingo, and Philip Francisco U. Dy, former Associate Director of the AIMTEC.

The AIM Faculty guided the participants through various group activities that allowed for greater interaction among them. Working in teams, the participants achieved a shared understanding of the future they are envisioning for DepEd Region 2 and determined key action points to co-create change in their communities, including having a stronger and more open engagement of all stakeholders. 



Regional Director of DepEd Region 2 Lorna Dig-Dino1 sensed much enthusiasm from the group at the end of the 3-day workshop.










This is the second batch of participants from DepEd Region 2 who underwent the Bridging Leadership workshop. The first batch—consisting of 22 officers from DepEd 2 Regional Office – were trained by AIMTEC last May 26 to 28, 2015.




1 Regional Director Lorna Dig-Dino is also a Fellow of the AIMTEC and a member of the 2nd Cohort of Bridging Leaders under the Bridging Leadership Fellows Program (BLFP) funded by the Australian Agency for International Development (AusAID).
